About random people photos

Search intent is usually a face for a testimonial, a diverse set of avatars, or a group for a community page. The Unsplash query leans on people and portrait. Random Business may include staff in an office; here the person (or group) is the reason for the frame.

Random people photos for faces and teams

We do not map “single portrait” to vertical photos and “group” to horizontal photos. Orientation is aspect ratio, not headcount. A trio can be shot tall; an environmental portrait can be wide.

High-contrast black-and-white would fight the “real skin, real light” reason to use people stock. Preview darken can be a look; we do not convert and hand you a new B&W file. We also do not label emotion or identity.

Typical people-photo jobs

  • Testimonial rows and author bylines.
  • Placeholder avatars in social or SaaS prototypes (do not imply those users exist).
  • Nonprofit or community pages that need human presence before a real shoot.

FAQ

Are model releases included?

Unsplash photos are provided under Unsplash’s license; editorial versus commercial sensitivity still depends on your use (especially sensitive topics). Credit the photographer. Do not imply an endorsement by the person pictured.

Can I use a portrait as a fake employee photo?

Avoid it on a live company site. It misrepresents who works there. Fine for a grey-box prototype; replace before launch.

Why no Single / Group chips?

Those would be extra Unsplash queries, not orientation. This page stays on one people/portrait search so it does not fork into thin clones. Browse pages to see both close portraits and groups.

How is this different from Random Fashion?

People is the human as subject. Fashion is clothing, styling, and campaign energy — the outfit leads. A street portrait of a look might appear in both; pick People for biography/UI faces and Fashion for apparel storytelling.
